Aces is an Altpoint Ventures backed contextual social messaging platform that enables users to share content via a seamless, engaging experience. Users can send, archive, sort, manage, and react to multimedia messages instantly while also discovering social and cultural trends across their networks. Leveraging data and machine learning, Aces redefines the concept of relevance in social media.

The Job:

As Senior UX/UI Designer you will be a creative experience lead at this tech start-up whose strategy meets at the intersection of tech, messaging, social networking, and pop culture. As our lead designer, you will be translating ideas to a product that will be used on both mobile and web.

You will contribute to the design lifecycle from ideation all the way through research, testing, deployment, and QA. You’ll be an advocate for end users and design in meetings and on paper/screen. You live for edgy, innovative design and are excited to shape the user experience and interaction of a consumer-facing start-up in its very early stages. If this sounds like you, read below for detailed requirements.

Responsibilities:

- Contribute to strategic design and strategy decisions in collaboration with our product team and be responsible for the design direction and strategy

- Design at all stages for an omnichannel experience including user flows, whiteboard sketches, wireframes, visual designs, and transition animations

- Turn conceptual ideas and research into interfaces that will excite our users 

- Have the drive and ability to deliver simple and elegant user flows

- Speak candidly and clearly with the team about your choices and usability logic

Qualifications:

- Have at least 2 years product design experience

- Have a BA/BS degree in Design (e.g., interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial) or a related field or equivalent practical experience

- You have the ability to think at a strategic level about our product (what we should build to enhance our user experience)

- You understand that design is not only about how something looks but also how it behaves

- You communicate well and present design concepts quickly, clearly, and persuasively

- You have experience presenting to and earning buy-in from your team and leadership

- Having experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) is a plus  

- Have a portfolio that illustrates complex problem solving ability, comprehension of fundamental development frameworks, and design skills

- Are comfortable delivering designs while using and contributing to a front-end style guide

- Take initiative to learn about, from, and advocate for the user

- Have an both eye for details and ability to see the big picture

- Having experience acquiring user data (e.g., conducting usability studies, performing user research) is a plus
