Systems Engineer

This position will be responsible for designing, deploying, managing, and maintaining Intersection’s web and mobile platforms.

Primary Duties and Areas of Responsibility

• Ensure the availability and continuity of Intersection’s services, from development to production.
• Help troubleshoot issues at any level of architecture – kernel, network, applications and services.
• Participate in design review of applications and services.
• Identify opportunities for infrastructure automation and develop the solutions.
• Identify the need for tools that help in maintaining, developing, and improving Intersection’s services and implement those tools.
• Jointly create, with development, performance benchmark tests for applications and services.
• Recommend best practices related to applications and service creation in terms of supportability and performance.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills, for example the ability to describe technical concepts in simple, clear, terms.
• Ability to manage multiple work-streams and prioritize work
• Strong experience in developing distributed, networked, application that make use of protocols such as TCP, UDP, and HTTP.
• Previous experience using Splunk or ELK for issue analysis.
• Extensive knowledge of Linux.
• Strong skills in one or more of the following: Bash, Python, Ruby.
• Experience with running systems that require 99.9%+ uptime in Amazon’s EC2.
• Experience in utilizing configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet.
• Experience in using software design patterns, data structure, and algorithms.
• Experience automating tests and tasks.
• 3+ years of experience

• BS or MS in Computer Science
• Experience in mobile development
• Experience with ZenDesk API
• Prior reliance on Prometheus, Datadog, or New Relic
