Temp Science Researcher/Writer

BuzzFeed is looking for a researcher and writer who knows how to approach science in an amusing and informed manner. As a member of BuzzFeed's Nifty Science team, you will be responsible for helping video producers discover new science concepts and projects. If you're the type of person who's always watching Youtube videos of slime being made, buying dry ice for a party trick, or reading books about deep space, we'd love to hear from you!

This assignment is based out of our NYC or LA office and expected to be around 3 months with possibility for extension.

Responsibilities:

• Help carve out a distinctive voice for Nifty’s science coverage.
• Research, test, and pitch new ideas for science-based videos
• Be plugged into the daily trending conversation on social platforms, and able to spot potential video ideas
• Be bursting with ideas on how to make hot trending short-form science videos
• Make Nifty Science a destination for the hottest, most viral science content on the web

Requirements:

• Background in research, science writing or teaching, video or digital media
• Proven ability to track and understand viral traffic
• Video skills are a major plus
• A positive, curious, playful disposition
• Contacts in the scientific community is a major plus
