You will help shape how the world perceives and interacts with artnet on a global scale by inspiring others, implementing customer-centered design principles, and growing the value of our products by expanding how users discover and engage with our content. We work in a fast-paced, agile environment in which data plays a crucial role in informing product analysis and future product iterations.

Our designers foster a collaborative environment in which ideas are shared and feedback is welcomed in a uniquely creative and forward-thinking company. You will be reporting directly to the chief technology officer and will be a part of our dedicated Product Design and Engineering Team. Working together in our open-plan, modern New York office located in the Woolworth Building, you will challenge and motivate each other as artnet leads the way in the growing art industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Create quality designs of artnet product features, from low to high fidelity, including visual concepts, layouts, typographic explorations, and icon design
  • Deliver polished comps and assets to other team members
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce pixel-perfect and brand-appropriate design experiences across all our platforms, including Web, iOS, and email
  • Communicate and present ideas and designs effectively
  • Refine our UI style guides and ensure that a consistent design language is applied across our products
  • Stay up to date on the various capabilities and technical constraints of our products and services
  • Continually propose new ideas that improve our workflow, designs, and services

Qualifications:

  • BFA or MA, or equivalent industry experience of 3 years
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality interfaces in a fast-paced environment
  • A passion for design with a strong understanding of composition, balance, symmetry, and white space
  • Refined aesthetic sensibilities with a strong attention to detail
  • Dedication to polishing your work until it is pixel-perfect
  • Strong understanding of design systems with the ability to make rational design decisions within those systems
  • Ability to focus despite changing internal and external landscapes
  • Superb communication skills that allow you to convey your rationale and thought process to any audience
  • Excellent judgement for usability coupled with a willingness to remain flexible
  • Proven experience with an iterative design process, including incorporating feedback, launching quickly, and testing hypotheses
  • The ability to hand-code HTML/CSS with ease
  • Skilled at Sketch, Adobe XD, InVision, and Origami/Framer, as well as Google Apps (Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drawings)
  • A digital portfolio that displays not only a visually stunning array of mobile and interactive work, but also showcases your grasp of ideation, prototyping, and iteration, as well as visual design in terms of typography, color, grid, scale, balance, and hierarchy

Bonus Points For:

  • 2+ years of experience with social network, e-commerce, or lifestyle brands and consumer web products
  • Understanding of working in an agile environment
  • Experience in creating native mobile products for iOS
  • Knowledge of high-end luxury consumer design
