BuzzFeed, the leading global digital media company, is seeking a seasoned corporate communications executive to lead strategic communications efforts across our growing business and technology stack reporting into the Chief Communications Officer. The role will stretch across BuzzFeed’s advertising, finance, technology and commerce divisions to shape messaging and strategy around media relations, speaking engagements, crisis communications, and internal comms, as needed. A veteran manager, the ideal candidate will be a fast moving and strategic thinker who is familiar with the media, advertising, technology and financial landscapes, has deep history working with C-suite executives and can demonstrate proven success in executing high-profile communications initiatives.

What you’ll do:

• Partner with Chief Communications Officer to shape industry narrative about BuzzFeed’s business and growth while leading corporate communications team
• Advise team on leading trade press across advertising and category trade outlets
• Work with agency and client PR teams to create consistent messaging and secure press stories to further drive revenue
• Further relationships with relevant press and influencers (emojis and gifs welcome!)
• Partner with research team to prove BuzzFeed’s ROI to press and advertising industry
• Work closely with key business stakeholders including BuzzFeed’s President, Chief Financial Officer, Publisher (head of technology), SVP of Marketing and Chief Revenue Officer

Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in communications for media/advertising/technology industry preferred
• Ability to work cross-functionally with urgency across different company divisions and with outside partners
• Strong understanding of current media, advertising and technology industry
• Proven ability to pitch and secure placements among top-tier press outlets
• Excellent organization skills, experience working with executives, strong written and verbal communication skills
• A sense of humor doesn’t hurt and a love for Sunday night Twitter!
