5 NYC tech events you don't want to miss this week

Journalists, developers and product managers are going to be getting together to figure out how to build better news notifications. There’s a surprising amount that goes into delivering a news alert, from tone, format, graphics to interactivity. Breaking news may never be the same.

NYC Bootcamp Alumni Lightning Talks, December 6th at 6:30 p.m.

This will be an evening of lightning talks and demos from graduates of coding bootcamps. New York has thousands of graduates whose experiences and thus their talks will be diverse and interesting.

Experience VR, December 6th at 7 p.m.

If you haven’t tried high-end VR, this is your chance to be truly impressed. Everyone will have a chance to try out a ton of VR gear, including on the Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Gear VR.

How to Ramp Faster and Sell More, December 6th at 6 p.m.

So, you hired a new employee. That’s great, but they’re going to be pretty useless until their ramped up and producing. This Sales Development Forum talk will feature experts giving advice on what a strong onboarding program looks like.

Fuckup Nights: Brooklyn, December 7th at 6:30 p.m.

Everybody does it from time to time, Fuckup Nights just turned sharing stories of your biggest screwup into a fun learning experience. The entire lineup for this event has yet to be released, but Sam Tarantino, Founder and CEO at Escape Media Group will be talking about how they dealt with a $13 billion lawsuit. Yikes.
