Description:

Primary responsibility is ensuring that all content that airs on the VICELAND US network, social channels, and affiliated platforms is cleared for exploitation. This includes reviewing cuts and making determinations as to the need for appearance releases, materials releases, or location releases; negotiating archival releases as needed; and evaluating content for right of privacy, publicity, defamation and fair use concerns. Also involves drafting and negotiating the licensing agreements for television and film acquisitions. In charge of tracking rights restrictions and ensuring other departments are aware of any limitations imposed by production in content exploitation. Manages the rights and clearances assistant in the department and reports to the VP of Business and Legal Affairs.

Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree with admission to one or more state bars in good standing required
  • 2 – 4 years of legal experience in a network or production company
  • Highly organized, detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Superior communication and interpersonal abilities
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently while serving a variety of departments within the company
