The Candidate

You are an ambitious Ruby developer, often biting off a bit more than you can chew. You believe quality is better than quantity and you can stand proudly behind your work. You are willing to work on multiple projects and are looking to collaborate with a team of highly skilled Ruby and Node engineers. Most of all, you are excited by the challenge of helping build the most consumer-friendly home automation platform.

The Responsibilities

• Develop new features and improve existing portions of our back-end APIs and microservices
• Ensure backwards and forwards compatibility for predictable client experience
• Interact with stakeholders from the business team, mobile development team, and hardware/firmware teams to ensure that backend work meets the needs of all parties
• Test and document your code, and contribute to improving testing and documentation of our entire system
• Write scalable, durable code, and help others do so as well

The Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant professional experience
• Knowledge of Ruby and RESTful API development
• Knowledge of MySQL
• Git
• Experience working on one or more highly-trafficked websites

Bonus Points

• Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, RDS)
• Database schema design and indexing
• Startup experience
• Experience in agile, iterative development
