The Role

As Community Affairs Manager, LinkNYC at Intersection, you will manage the day to day LinkNYC Community Affairs outreach. You will work cross-team, supporting Marketing, Communications, and Deployment and will report to the Director of External Affairs, Link and General Manager, Link to make LinkNYC beloved parts of each Community.

The Community Affairs Manager will actively encourage adoption of service among stakeholder groups and form community partnerships that contribute to the proliferation of usage and/or local advertising sales. The Community Affairs Manager will also ensure local communities, business associations, and other stakeholders are informed of Link deployment and address stakeholder concerns and issues.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare community and stakeholder educational materials about Link service, deployment, and performance for all five boroughs of New York City.
  • Maintain and expand a list of community partners and cultivate relationships with organizations ranging from community boards and block associations to tech advocacy and training organizations.
  • Present on LinkNYC at Community Boards and other community groups across the five boroughs.
  • Plan outreach events with the Communications team around educating New Yorkers on LinkNYC benefits and roll-out.
  • Manage community focused LinkNYC offerings for local businesses and non-profits.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing materials, public events, and press briefings.
  • Provide overall project support to Director of External Affairs, Link General Manager, Marketing team and support staff to ensure the overall success of LinkNYC.

What We Expect

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2-4 years experience in public affairs or communications
  • Experience with New York City government and / or community boards
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Extremely strong work ethic, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience with public speaking and event planning is a plus
  • Five borough travel and night events will be required
  • Proven experience working with customers and stakeholders at the highest levels
  • Strong capabilities of observation, analysis, synthesis
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to balance what’s ideal with what’s practical and understand how to make incremental steps to improve
