The Role

The Assessment Associate will support the creation of engaging assessments for Newsela content that meet our users’ needs. In this role, you will contribute to the design of assessments, give feedback to freelance contributors on how to build out exceptional assessments, and conduct research and analysis to ensure our assessments are consistent and aligned to best practices. You will also lead the charge in researching assessments (best practices, efficacy, and shifting state standards), in addition to establishing and tracking quality metrics. You will play a hands-on role in helping Newsela operationalize the assessment features of our product, and in turn enable improved learning outcomes for students across the U.S.

Why We’ll Love You

Drawing on your 2+ years in the classroom or in assessment production, you have experience developing, designing, and evaluating assessments that align to national educational standards. You are fluent in (or at least familiar with) C3 Framework, NCSS Standards, state social studies standards (e.g., TEKS), as well as the Common Core standards for literacy in social studies. You are able to make informed decisions that ensure strong instructional resources for teachers and students. You have a proven track record of working with adult learners to coach them on learning targets and execution, and know how to thoughtfully architect data-informed strategies to enhance learning outcomes; you are fiercely committed to thinking about what is best for students and for teachers.
