Defiant Studios was founded in New York City in 2016 by industry veterans with many decades of experience in designing, building and producing AAA games for a global audience. We strive to create incredible gameplay experiences while working with curious and passionate people. Our focus is to explore and expand the boundaries of cooperative multiplayer games through compelling storytelling woven into unique and beautiful worlds. Defiant is currently developing multiple unannounced projects including a groundbreaking original AAA IP for next generation platforms.

Defiant Studios wants an experienced Character Artist who is ready to raise the bar in both realistic characters to monsters for our AAA title as well as a variety of other projects. You will develop art content for characters and contribute exceptional quality art to the game. We want a motivated and forward thinking individual to improve workflow and content pipeline. You will be a valuable partner to the Art Director to ensure the future success of art creation and continue to keep a high quality for all characters across all projects.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years industry experience
• Previously created character models for one or more published AAA games
• Excellent skills in Maya, Photoshop and Z-brush or equivalent
• A strong sense of asset ownership though the art pipeline, taking full responsibility for assets from initial creation to implementation in the final product
• Ability to create highly unique characters based on existing concept Art
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Advanced understanding of generating normal maps from high poly models
• You have an excellent artistic ability and you are driven to find the right visual feeling and quality in your work
• Passion for playing and making games
• A Portfolio is required demonstrating all aspects of your skills (High & Low Poly Models, Texture pages, Renders etc.)
