The Role

BuzzFeed Media Brands needs a creative and resourceful leader for all lifestyle video ( food, style, beauty, wellness, parenting, and home) across our portfolio of brands. We’re looking for a creative who can inspire producers to create their best work. You understand how to maximize the viral power and scale of BuzzFeed and combine it with brand value and voice.

We are looking for someone who believes there is much work to be done to move the the lifestyle space forward, and is extremely motivated to create exceptional videos that combine service journalism with humor, compassion, and emotional intelligence.

The Team

BuzzFeed Media Brands is composed of an inspiring and energetic group of creative geniuses and business savvy experts who are taking the lifestyle space by storm. The teams sit in NYC and LA with the Head of Media Brands sitting in NYC. You will report to the Executive Director of Media Brands who also sits in NYC.

You Will

    • Design video production and post-production teams for an organized production workflow optimized for our current recommended content mix

    • Understand our brands, manage creative direction, and hold producers as well as other partners accountable for to staying within brand and pushing unique POV.

    • Grow an amazing team of leaders in their management, and brand defining skills

    • Build a strong external talent practice (casting, editing, production) to create a flexible organization that can work on new projects quickly and maximize our creative talent across all media brands

    • Collaborate with internal partners to identify and complete video needs.

    • Play a high-level advisory role in production facility and studio workflows, strategic planning responsibilities, programming calendar, and video production budget across all brands.

You Have

    • 10+ years of video production experience (preferably with lifestyle brands) and 5+ years managing large teams across multiple brands/franchises.

    • Advanced knowledge of video pre-production, production, and post-production including workflows and processes, equipment and software programs/tools

    • Experience creating videos for licensing and syndication

    • A body of work in concepting, writing and completing ideas.

    • Experience at hiring and supervising freelance personnel, as well as managing their workflow.

    • Understanding of the digital landscape and a demonstrated ability to stay up-to-date with developments in web platforms, applications and content delivery.

    • Experience with budgets, setting and measuring goals of the team.

    • An instinct for business which spans across revenue generating content and other monitization strategies.

    • Support senior level leaders in Media Brands video team and have an affinity for fostering a collaborative, supportive team environment that is consistent with company culture projects.
