 OVERVIEW

Legendary style and youth culture bible i-D magazine is hiring a Managing Editor based out of its Brooklyn office. This is a highly multi-faceted role within a small team that involves writing, editing, and the daily management of i-D’s activities in the U.S. The editor will work closely with i-D’s global offices as well as VICE leadership to maintain excellent editorial standards and optimal communication. The ideal candidate will be incredibly organized as well as a crackerjack writer/editor.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Write and commission stories for the i-D US site
  • Edit i-D staffers and freelancers
  • Generate content ideas
  • Coordinate daily and weekly content plans
  • Help grow network of freelancers
  • Act as head of digital’s proxy when needed
  • Act as an editorial resource for other members of the team
  • Oversee invoicing and contracts
  • Maintain i-D style guide and help shape voice of site
  • Attend press days and industry functions
  • Use analytics to inform and optimize content

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years experience as an editor
  • Encyclopedic knowledge of and deep interest in fashion and pop culture
  • Ability to both line edit and top edit stories on a variety of topics
  • Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing editorial teams a plus
