About The Role:

As the first hire of the editorial team, this person will be instrumental in developing the voice and direction of the content strategy in heavy partnership with the Head of Editorial. With equal parts writer and operative, this editor should be rigorous to detail and deadlines, able to not only manage their own deliverables but help oversee the editorial calendar and manage the freelancer network. The Senior Editor will manage day-to day operations while constantly pitching on-the-pulse ideas that will elevate and establish Chief as a thought-leader in our ever expanding mission on helping executive women thrive.

Responsibilities:
  • Pitch and write 3-4 original stories a week.
  • Write promotional copy for content, including newsletter subject lines and social copy
  • Top-edit and assign additional content to freelancer network in partnership with Head of Editorial.
  • Manage the editorial calendar and distribution schedule with Head of Editorial.
  • Work cross-functionally with internal departments to develop the best editorial content across Art, Membership Team, Marketing and more.
  • Monitor and continue to evolve inter-departmental processes for efficiency.
  • Source sophisticated writers to contribute to calendar’s tentpoles to make sure there are no holes in content coverage.
  • Train and manage these contributors.
  • Have strong freelance writer and industry expert network

What We're Looking For:

  • 6-8 years as a business / culture reporter, feminist/women slant a plus, with a proven background in digital media.
  • Exceptional at packaging content for digital consumption, including but not limited to newsletter, social, and community management
  • Incredibly well-versed in reporting against management/leadership, DEI at work, and business trends, with a strong pulse on the culture of work.
  • Must have a strong grasp of AP style, SEO best practices, and digital media distribution
  • Strong grammar, research, and copyediting skills, as well as a deep love for storytelling and brainstorming
  • Fastidious and aggressive with time management.

  • Is passionate about advancing women in the workplace.

  • Podcast and video experience a plus.
