The Role 

BuzzFeed.com is looking for an experienced and data-minded SEO strategist to join BuzzFeed’s growing SEO team. This role reports into the Audience Development team.

You Will 

  • Advise on Google Search and Discover strategy for entertainment, lifestyle, and shopping content
  • Support training editors and writers on all things SEO as well as actively give feedback on how to optimize content for SEO including titles, URL slug, and internal linking
  • Work closely with product teams about technical improvements to the site along with SEO manager
  • Regularly track and report on trends and performance using Google Analytics, SEMRush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, OnCrawl, and deliver actionable insights to content teams
  • Regularly dig into the data and conduct competitive analysis and propose proof of concept experiments
  • Partner with product, and data teams to guide the technical roadmap and make strategic recommendations for search-friendly enhancements
  • Perform regular audits and analysis of internal linking, site architecture, content depth and other SEO best practices and maintenance

You Have

  • 3+ years planning, developing and implementing SEO strategy 
  • A deep passion for SEO and the ability to excel in a fast-paced digital publishing environment 
  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing successful content experiments focused on search traffic optimization
  • Experience with all the essential SEO digital publishing and tracking tools
  • Ability to manage multiple areas of priority and work cross functionally
  • Experience working with entertainment, news, recipes, and content teams is a plus
