The Role 

BuzzFeed is searching for a Channel Lead to oversee the About to Eat channel. You will partner across departments and guide an internal team of Senior and Executive Producers to ensure that the About to Eat channel will effectively grow and scale to its full potential in its second year. Additionally, you’ll work across departments identifying opportunities to grow the scope and sweep of this innovative new food channel whose impact reaches far beyond content. An ideal candidate will have a strong creative producing background in unscripted digital media, preferably with expertise and interest in the food space.

You Will 

  • Oversee, along with the full collaboration of the About to Eat team, the overall Brand Identity of About to Eat
  • Partner with a team of Senior and Executive Producers to ideate, workshop and create content that will further the global conversation around food.
  • Review and set the quarterly slate, budget, and resourcing for the channel
  • Provide creative feedback on projects in development, pre-production, and post
  • Work with Supervising Producer of Physical Production to review the budget for the About to Eat Channel and ensure the channel remains on target
  • Work with Post to troubleshoot challenges and ensure package dates are met
  • Partner with Publishing and PR on promotional plans and social activations
  • Collaborate with the Development team to create a pipeline for new series, identifying successful pilots to scale

You Have

  • 5+ years of experience in creative producing digital long and medium form content, ideally unscripted
  • 2+ years of management experience and ability to build dynamic teams
  • Have a working understanding and a deep curiosity about food and the content and culture surrounding it.
  • Ability to build our programming with sponsorship opportunities and able to collaborate with sales and marketing partners.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and problem-solve creatively under tight timelines
  • A deep understanding of the technical and creative fundamentals of the pre-production to post workflow
  • Clear communication when delegating responsibilities to ensure successful execution
