The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Data Scientist that will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of GIF views and metadata, and help us make smarter decisions around understanding our users better as well as helping build out new products. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction systems integrated with our products.
You will be helping us improve our A/B testing framework as well as help us improve our content recommendation, search algorithm, ad targeting, and internationalization efforts.

What You’ll Do:

• Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques.
• Data mining using state-of-the-art methods.
• Work with data engineers to create new pipelines.
• Build out custom algorithms using features from tags, computer vision, and behavioral data.
• Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
• Processing, cleansing, and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis.
• Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner.
• Build models of audiences using primary and secondary data sources.
• Work with tools and languages such as Scala, Python, Spark, Databricks, Redshift, Spectrum, and AWS.
  

Who You Are:

• Ability to deploy and productionalize data science products.
• Familiarity with command line tools.
• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, Neural Nets, etc.
• Experience with common data science toolkits, such as NumPy, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or SparkML.
• Great communication skills.
• Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL.
• Proficiency in using at least one object oriented programming language such as Python or Scala.
• Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• BA/BS in Computer Science, Math/Finance, Physics, Applied Economics, Statistics or other technical field preferred or relevant experience.
