An Insider's view of EquityZen

How do you collaborate with other teams in the company?

We have constant communication and feedback so you're never working on a feature in a silo or release something that was totally off mark. All features go through a design session, and all code is thoroughly reviewed. For big projects, a Slack channel is created where the developers, product owner, and business owner handle questions that come up.

Bryant

Principal Engineer

What are some things you learned at the company?

Since joining EquityZen, I've learned to have more of an analytical mindset when making decisions and proposing solutions. Coming from a client-facing background at a large company, tools like SQL were things I never touched or knew about. At EquityZen, we're empowered and encouraged to look at that data to make quantitative decisions.

Roy

Senior Investment Specialist

How do you empower your team to be more creative?

Engineers have the opportunity to flex their creativity throughout the development process. They own the technical design of their respective features and will work with Product and UX to whiteboard, brainstorm, and debate the merits of the various ideas, collaboratively arriving at the best solution.

Shanon

Sr. Director of Engineering

What projects are you most excited about?

We’re trying to make complex processes such as selling private equity and investing in private companies more accessible and intuitive, and I’m most excited when working across multidisciplinary teams to design and build our investment platform to improve the customer experience and create value for our users - which, luckily, happens to be my job!
