THE ROLE

The Merchandise Planner is responsible for developing and executing merchandise plans for all departments, while ensuring accuracy and consistency. Partner with Buying to increase revenue, margin, and improve inventory productivity. The ideal candidate will be an innovative problem-solver with the ability to adapt to the Bombfell business model.


This is a part time role (20 hours/week) and will run for a one month contract, and can be done on-site or remotely.


Responsibilities

  • Develop seasonal plans and analysis of historical data to forecast trends. 
  • Summarize the opportunity and risk of a product plan as it relates to trend and financial metrics: initial mark-up, average unit retail, average unit cost, net margin dollars/rate.
  • Provide daily and weekly updates on business as it relates to last forecast, identifying trends, and highlighting selling that exceeds or falls short of expectation.
  • Propose markdown and promotional strategies to maximize profitability on the life of an item or category; provide pricing and margin dollar gain/loss scenarios.
  • Validate stock-to-sales relationships, maximize receipt flow to improve turn, reconcile receipts and suggest pricing strategies to drive profitability.
  • Create and plan product assortments (item, color, size) for each product category.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years of Merchandise Planning or Inventory Management experience, preferably in e-commerce.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Full understanding of structure and elements of traditional open-to-buy.
  • Proficiency in Retail Math (sales, gross margin, DOH/WOS) and ability to translate those metrics into actionable information that drive financial results.
  • Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
