Research Manager, SIA

BuzzFeed is hiring a Research Manager on the Strategic Insights & Analytics team. We are open to the role being in either NYC or Chicago.

This role requires both strategic and tactical skill sets with a proficiency at problem-solving and a strong command of social and digital media. He/she will be responsible for generating campaign and vertical insights for our top CPG advertisers via internal and third-party research tools (note that this role does not entail any ad effectiveness research). We 

The candidate must have a proven track record in data-rich analyses (specifically with digital video is a plus), the ability to interface effectively with strategic partners and the skills to convert data into actionable insights and recommendations for our clients.

These are the main responsibilities:


  1. Vertical Insights for CPG Food & Beverage
  • Lead strategic insights for the CPG sales vertical. The candidate is expected to understand the critical needs of our CPG sellers and provide insights that equips them with fulfilling sales goals.
  • Interface with strategic CPG sellers, identifying campaign/brand goals, executing impactful research projects and presenting results for the sales team.
  • Provide deep insights for CPG clients around BuzzFeed franchises, pages, shows, etc., specific focus on Tasty.
  • Cultural Fit & Collaboration
    • Continue to develop and adapt processes/feedback loops with multiple key, internal stakeholders.
    • Ability to remain flexible and nimble by demonstrating a forward thinking mentality and willingness to utilize new data sources to tell the BuzzFeed story.

    Experience Requirements:

    • 4-6 years of experience in digital media research, data analysis, media buying/planning (specifically in digital video is a plus)
    • Strong understanding of methodology, data & systems from a broad range of research providers, including emerging tools and methods
    • Expertise in online research, audience measurement and market research is a must. Prior experience working with Google Analytics, comScore, eMarketer and Nielsen.
    • Ability to analyze and translate data-based findings into clear, relevant and actionable insights
    • Detail oriented with excellent communication skills and the desire to interface with key clients and stakeholders
    • Basic knowledge of native advertising and current trends in the digital marketplace
    • Advanced knowledge of Excel a must. Intermediate PowerPoint or Keynote skills
    • B.S. in marketing research, statistics, marketing, communications, psychology or any related field
