Role
Staff Software Engineer, Candid Care Co., New York, NY.
Responsibilities: Responsible for bringing our customer touch points to life, as well as providing sound technical execution of web projects through hands-on development, quality-assurance measures, and prototyping. This involves taking ownership of both small and large software engineering projects by participating in design and code reviews, working with open source tools, building integrations with third-party vendors, and architecting and implementing libraries and frameworks that power Candid™ across the full software stack, working across product, design, and engineering teams to deliver the highest quality software. Specifically tasks include building the backend and infrastructure of the company’s product; engineering, modifying, and architecting backend software, and implementing their designs; maintaining the quality of the code base and product; researching and developing mobile software solutions for technical issues; overseeing the quality of the code base, and fixing any bugs and/or issues with the product; and shipping mobile software products and features.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, plus 5 years of experience operating within a software engineering team. Prior experience must include: 5 years of experience with the Python programming language; 5 years of experience writing backend web software supporting small to large system scale; 3 years of experience in writing technical documentation as it relates to the systems being developed; 5 years of experience in RESTful API development; 5 years of experience in database management and best practices, particularly with Postgresql; 3 years of experience in caching strategies applied to backend web systems, particularly Redis and Memcached; 3 years of experience using and maintaining backend web systems within the AWS ecosystem; and 5 years of experience designing backend systems as demonstrated by the ability to scope and whiteboard appropriate and proper systems architecture. Must successfully complete competency-based interview.
