Birchbox is seeking a Head of Creative Services (Production) to join Birchbox and lead a talented in-house photography and video team to produce on-brand quality imagery and videos to support all cross channel marketing outlets for both the men and women’s brand. In addition, this role plays a lead in identifying and providing innovative solutions (process, technology and resourcing) that supports the evolving needs of the photography/video team. You will report to the VP of Creative and supported by a Photo Coordinator to establish and maintain high quality visual deliverables and inspire your team through strong leadership with a commitment to support the Birchbox brand vision and mission of being a major industry-changing force in beauty commerce. You will manage 3 - 5 full-time team members.The ideal candidate will have a successful record of managing and leading teams of photographers, prop stylists, video editors, retouchers, and freelancers while balancing a budget to to ensure quality work on multiple sets is delivered on time and on budget. You have excellent communication skills, and are a seasoned professional excited to take your industry knowledge and apply it to a growing and dynamic start-up. You love the challenge of turning problems into opportunities and consistently strive for the best balance between vision and goals and priorities. You have a personal passion, experience and excitement in making images and telling stories through photography and video. You are excited to guide and teach as well as learn and grow the team and are invested in continuing to find ways to elevate the final product while upholding the spirit of the brand through all channels.ESSENTIAL DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Oversee + manage in-house and freelance photo production teams, for ecommerce, editorial, seasonal campaign and social media shoots
  • Ensure the production of all photo and video shoots adhere to time + budget constraints
  • Manage the photography and post production pipeline, refining as necessary to ensure efficiency and cost effectiveness, while remaining mindful of the photo team’s bandwidth
  • Partner with finance in the management of the production budgets, analyzing actuals for future cost savings
  • Partner with web production team to schedule key milestones dates + manage the pipeline calendar
  • Liaise with the team on file sharing, image usage negotiation, shoot planning, and any other photography / video support they may need

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Produce and manage small to large scale photography and video requests for all marketing, social, and content needs for both men and women’s team
  • Collaborate with cross teams to intake and build requests, allocating photo/video resources and ensuring on-time delivery
  • Leads the communication and presentation roll-outs for photo/video team and prepares appropriate team members for such presentations
  • Responsible for overseeing workflow and scheduling of freelance contractors and talent
  • Oversees scheduling and creation of production timelines all photo and video shoots pre- through post-production
  • Manage budget, including building estimates, negotiating talent rates, prop and stylist budgets, model casting, and freelance talent
  • Partners with Marketing Project Manager to implement better solutions that contribute to process improvements
  • Support building storyboards, call sheets, shot lists,
  • Works with appropriate teams to cast talent (including contracts/releases); location scouting
  • Work alongside creative/marketing leads, art directors, social directors to achieve on-brand visuals as needed
  • QA as needed
  • Day to day troubleshooting
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment, with an in-depth understanding of the creative process.
  • Enthusiasm and leadership experience to mentor junior-level teammates

SKILLS

  • 6-10 years in a photo/video producer role; studio and beauty background with managerial experience preferred
  • Social assets production experience preferred
  • Inspiring, strong, positive leader who is able to influence and manage creative talent
  • Detail-oriented self starter with excellent management and budgeting skills, and an ability to prioritize needs.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent oral written and interpersonal skills.
  • Project management experience preferred.
  • Photography / and or video experience a plus
  • Proficient in latest photo / digital equipment and use.
  • Adobe Suite, Asana proficient.
  • Thorough and detailed communication skills
  • Consistently produces results - delivers on time and on budget
