About Birchbox

Founded in 2010, Birchbox is a leading beauty and grooming retailer, offering an efficient, personalized way to discover and shop for new products. We redefined the e-commerce experience by pairing a monthly subscription of samples with a curated online shop featuring more than 800 best-in-class brands. Every month, subscribers receive five prestige samples tailored to their unique profile along with inspiring editorial content that creates a seamless path to purchase full-size versions of their favorites on Birchbox.com. In 2012, we launched Birchbox Man and expanded internationally, and in 2014, we opened our first brick-and-mortar store in Soho. The Role

Birchbox is seeking a visual designer to help bring our brand to life through our digital experiences. This person will be familiar and comfortable with user-centric design practices and have the ability to bring concepts to life in an artful, expressive way. S/he will be able to internalize the spirit of our brand and create designs that reflect that and also communicate to our customer in a clear and engaging way. S/he will be extremely detail oriented and believe that the combination of perfectly executed details are what make a design truly sing.

Qualities we are seeking:

• 4-6 years as a designer working primarily in the digital space
• Exceptional visual design skills, including excellent typography
• Comfort with UX design and practices
• Ability to design for interactive, multi-step flows as well as stand alone moments
• Perspective on brand-appropriate animation, micro-interactions, and photography
• Willingness to work both independently and in collaboration with other designers. This includes a willingness to execute on concepts developed by fellow team members as well as fully own projects from concept through execution.
• Excitement to work within an existing brand and embrace what has been established while continuously adding to and evolving it in a measured way.
• A positive, flexible attitude!

This is a minimum 4-5 month contract role.
