ABOUT THE JOBWe’re looking for an experienced Manager, Product Designer to join our growing design team. This is an early-stage opportunity to join a company that is creating the new standard for real estate transactions across the country. Your coaching and designs will enable Spruce to help homeowners with the biggest financial decision of their life (purchasing a home) and enable and empower the Spruce team nationwide to do their best day-to-day work. Additionally you will work closely with the Sales and Client Success teams to equip them to win big business in this year's pipeline.

You will be integral in setting the culture on the design team and be the liaison between design and the rest of the business. You will report to the VP of Product and manage the design team.

What you’ll do:

  • Design features that solve our users’ problems and support the interconnectedness of Spruce’s product suite
  • Translate complex ideas into meaningful, data-driven, user experiences based on in-depth research and testing
  • Manage junior designers giving them insight into how to improve their contributions to the team including work product and communication
  • Coach junior designers into autonomous, high delivery design team members while thinking about how to grow the team
  • As part of your process, work closely with engineers, product managers, and other cross-disciplinary partners to define problems, create design artifacts, prototype interactions, launch new features, and proactively solicit feedback
  • Effectively use and make improvements to the styles, components, and patterns in our design system
  • Be autonomous. You’ll take full ownership of your work, and you take responsibility for every last detail, every step of the way
  • Drive deliverables to deadlines independently
  • Be open to collaboration and team-based problem solving
  • Design features and large-scale projects on an aggressive schedule

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of product design experience
  • Portfolio demonstrating exceptional skills in interaction design, visual design, systems thinking and AB testing
  • Expert level skill with modern design tools (Sketch, Figma, Framer, Invision, Principle, Zeplin, Abstract)
  • Experience with UX research and knowledge of various research methods
  • Experience with collaborative design methods (design sprints, ideation workshops, etc)
  • Experience working closely with and managing junior designers
  • Experience working with engineering and product to shape vision, strategy, and execution
  • Experience launching, managing, and evolving design systems
  • Ability to communicate user insights and design decisions with confidence and transparency
  • Ability to give and receive honest, direct, and empathetic feedback to facilitate growth
