Position Summary:

VICE and it’s TV network, VICELAND, is seeking a motion graphics art director for the brand and their shows. This includes third party animations under VICE Visual Studio. You will have a deep understanding of motion graphics, broadcast, leading a small team — including freelancers, and a willingness to be hands-on. We're based in Brooklyn, NY.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organize daily requests and projects
  • You'll communicate with producers, editors and supervisors on design project needs and requests
  • Delegate roles and duties on projects
  • Coordinate freelancers and designers for projects
  • You'll trouble shoot and take design feedback from producers, editors, supervisors and directors
  • You'll provide oversight and quality control on projects
  • Handle deadlines and a brief with elite accuracy
  • Concept show packages and campaigns
  • Storyboarding/style framing show titles and scenes
  • You'll design creative graphics for VICE/VICLEAND campaigns, VICELAND shows + outside shows and films under the VICE Visual Studio
  • Design, animate, and edit standalone motion graphics packages
  • You'll craft assets and templates for video editors
  • You'll ideate solves that require graphics or visual effects

Minimum Requirements:

  • A Bachelors degree in Fine Arts or a related field is helpful
  • 5+ years of professional experience in design
  • You're inventive, diligent, attentive and have creative analytical skills
  • Ability to delegate resources and communicate effectively and articulately with designers and producers
  • Deep interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task a dynamic environment
  • Strong proficiency & experience in motion graphics programs, including AfterEffects, and 3D programs such Cinema 4D or Maya, and its plugins.
  • Experience in rotoscoping and visual effects
  • Ability to parallel-path multiple responsibilities and assignments under strict deadlines
  • A deep understanding and enthusiasm for the VICE brand and its network, VICELAND

Additional Skills:

  • Adobe Premier experience a plus
  • Understanding of editing and camera techniques
  • Understanding of typography
  • Working knowledge of film and photography basics
  • Experience in broadcast
