Work closely with Academic Departments and senior leadership at Steinhardt in the curricular renovation, and the design of hybrid and online courses, particularly as it pertains to Steinhardt's collaboration with external online program partners and vendors, as well as collaboration with Noodle Partners. Similarly, will work with specific departments (primarily music, media. and art) to conduct professional development around online teaching and course design. In this role the Instructional designer will be the main point of contact between Subject Matter Experts (Steinhardt Faculty) and external partners and vendors, such as media production firms, developers, and project managers. Implement pedagogical best practices and support educational technologies needed to effectively execute course mission, aligning to departmental goals & objectives. This position will oversee end-to-end development of courses during each design cycle; as well as the piloting of new tools, including the analysis, application, and post-assessment of tools. There are two Senior Instructional Designer positions.

Required Education:
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Education:
MA in educational technology or media, instructional technology or related field strongly preferred

Required Experience:
Min 5 years of professional work experience or the equivalent education and years of work experience;

Preferred Experience:
Background in Music, Music Composition, or Music Education preferred or media and design

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design models, instructional technology and distance education. Demonstrated experience working with curriculum and assessment. Experience collaborating with other information technology professionals on joint projects. Strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to maintain high levels of creativity and quality; Ability to be flexible in work assignments that may require changing priorities regularly; Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet project deadlines, stay on track, and communicate workflow obstacles. Ability to be proactive, take ownership of assigned responsibilities, and work independently; Creative problem solving abilities and initiatives. Ability to work with all levels of employees across the University and be able to effectively communicate to various key constituencies.
