Every morning, 10,000 Americans wake up and begin their first day of retirement. For these older Americans, determining how they manage healthcare during this period of their lives will be critical. For most, this will involve navigating Medicare (healthcare coverage for retirees over 65). Yet, the process of navigating Medicare is arduous and complex. Chapter has built industry-leading, proprietary technology to fulfill a simple promise: Help retirees find the best health coverage to meet their needs while reducing what they pay for it.

The Role

You will be the company's Senior UI/Visual Designer, a vital part of our design organization. You'll be working with our Lead Product designer to create user interface components for our design system, and a visual language that speaks to our brand. Working with our product, design, and marketing teams, you'll build a creative strategy that creates a sense of visual cohesion across our various products and digital collateral. We're searching for individuals who are curious, passionate, user-centric, and have a deep understanding of design principles. We have an office based in NYC, and have a flexible remote policy.

Overview of responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our product and design team to create assets for digital products
  • Create high fidelity mocks and prototypes
  • Define interaction patterns
  • Create visually delightful user interface components
  • Create icons and illustrations that add to our visual language
  • Maintain and build upon our design system
  • Create clear documentation for projects and components
  • Collaborate effectively across marketing, product, partnerships, and other stakeholders

You:

  • 5+ years of design experience
  • Have a strong vision for your work and company’s product
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating deep knowledge of design principles and methods
  • Possess a sharp eye and knowledge of layout, typography, composition, color, and hierarchy
  • Have experience with illustration and creating high-fidelity mocks and components
  • Extensive knowledge of Figma and Adobe CC
  • Have the ability to conceptualize projects, propose multiple ideas, and execute the final product
    • Are willing to “dive in deep” on a project
    • Gather examples of existing precedents
    • Understand how design lives in a complex + regulated industry
  • Have a forward-thinking approach to design
  • Ready to iterate based on feedback and/or user data
  • Willing to try multiple solutions to achieve desired result
  • Based in NYC

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with design tokens
  • Experience working with and/or building design systems
  • Experience prepping Lottie files for engineers
  • Deep understanding of best practices for accessibility

Our Principles

  • Impact: We are tackling a massive societal problem, and we orient ourselves toward making meaningful progress on these challenges.
  • Trust: We trust each other to effectively manage time and priorities.
  • Growth: We push ourselves and our peers to improve themselves and the world around them.

Benefits

  • Work on various projects and gain hands-on experience in marketing design.
  • Flexibility to work remotely
  • Competitive comp package
  • Unlimited PTO (we value output, not time at your desk).
  • Breakfast, snacks, and coffee/tea on us.

Chapter is an independent medicare advisor. We help Americans to navigate Medicare, supporting them as they sign up and choose specific coverage. Unlike most Medicare advisors who only search plans that pay them, Chapter searches every Medicare option nationwide. This allows us to find savings and benefits that others miss.

We are an equal-opportunity workplace. We are deeply committed to building an inclusive workplace for people of all races, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, religions, and ethnicities.
