A Senior Visual Designer at Learnvest/Northwestern Mutual has a passion for simplicity and product design that truly makes a difference in people's lives. They are hands-on, innovative and excited to see a project through from start to finish in a collaborative fashion.
We are leading a major digital transformation and our Senior Visual Designers can expect to play a critical part, typically owning 1-2 projects of our highest priority initiatives. They are integral in concepting and bringing the visual design to life across our ecosystem of products.
Their work should consider user needs, existing patterns, department principles, and brand guidelines. They should be able to work with very little oversight and lead by example, producing designs which elevates the quality of work across the discipline. They should be passionate about the work we are doing and always striving to push our vision forward.
Responsibilities
- Utilize systematic design language to create a cohesive digital experience, knowing when to work within the system and when the system needs to evolve
- Be a conceptual thinker and always explore multiple directions before landing on a solution
- Strong collaboration with all disciplines of design, product and engineering to bring the work to life
- Ability to handle more than one project with different timelines simultaneously with little oversight from their Design Lead and be able to clearly articulate and present their work
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of digital product experience (digital agency experience is a plus)
- A Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant subject, or requisite work experience
- Significant knowledge of the fundamentals: user experience design, user-centered design, and how products are put together
- Self-starter who is user-focused, detail and solutions oriented
- Experience creating systematic designs and working independently
- Link to work or an online portfolio with a heavy focus on digital product design is a must
