What will you do at Nomad?

 

The Senior Director of Design/UX is responsible for ensuring we design delightful experiences for Nomad’s clinicians, clients, and internal users. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for all of the user experiences across Nomad’s product line, driving significant impact for our users and Nomad’s business. Your impact will be felt throughout the company as you work collaboratively with Engineering leadership, champion the user experience with Product Management leadership, and tackle broad company-wide experiential challenges that require outstanding practical experience and theoretical knowledge of design and UX. A key part of this role is growing both the headcount and the capabilities of your team substantially in 2022.

 

We are looking for candidates who are empathetic, inquisitive, dedicated, collaborative, and creative. We want someone who loves design but is not in love with their own designs,  who loves feedback and crowdsourcing ideas, and knows how to integrate those into experiences that reflect a strong understanding of our users. You’re obsessive about small details and have a vision for the overall user experience. You want to take Nomad to the next level in an innovative and consistent manner.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

●  Lead the team responsible for the end-to-end Nomad Health product design across the breadth of the product line, including conceptualizing innovative solutions, developing and refining our design system, improving workflows across the product, ensuring that the user interface reflects a well-thought out hierarchy and presentation of information, and that the overall user experience helps the user through their journey

●  Your team’s purview is expansive; spanning clinicians, facilities, and internal users; you define and champion the consistent threads that weave their way throughout all of them to ensure consistent, coherent, and valuable experiences

●  Establish best-in-class design methodologies, up-leveling Nomad’s user experience capabilities across Design, Research, Content, Design Ops, and more

●  Lead ideation sessions and take concepts from design to execution

●  Nourish a collaborative environment by encouraging the sharing of ideas and openness to feedback, learning, and iteration.

●  Present and communicate end-to-end designs across departments and stakeholders with clarity and conviction, synthesizing feedback, and delivering on iterations

●  Manage design tools; improve how your team leverages the tools we have, and identify and champion new tools to further accelerate your team

●  Provide guidance and mentor the Design team, especially as it grows substantially in 2022

●  Monitor industry developments and ensure best practice in product design process and delivery

 

Who are you? 

 

●  10+ years of experience as a proven leader of a mid-to-large sized design organization, with additional background in a user experience designer, interaction designer, or similar UX-related role, with accompanying experience in visual/graphic design

●  Unstoppable passion for the user and the user experience - a leader that isn’t satisfied until our users are delighted

●  Deep understanding of user-centered design process, as well as proven application of knowledge of user experience principles, from research to prototyping to product release

●  Proven success with product/iterative work, ideally within a startup or midsize enterprise company

●  Experience building out a User Research team from the ground up

●  Experience in - and passion for - working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

●  A bachelor's degree in interaction design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent UX experience

●  Experience with healthcare systems or labor marketplaces is a plus

Compensation for this role for a candidate based in Colorado is expected to be between $163,000 and $205,500, and for a candidate based in NYC to be between $191,500 and $241,500. Actual pay may be higher or lower depending on geographic locations, skills, experience, and other factors permitted by law. This role is also eligible to receive a bonus, which is not guaranteed and may be based on individual and company performance.
