User Researcher

The Role
We are looking for a User Researcher to fulfill a hybrid role of researcher and strategist with a little bit of UX design thrown in. The User Researcher will leverage a wide-array of methodologies to capture and develop insights, to help our teams make user-driven, evidence-based decisions around immediate and future product decisions.
The User Researcher will work within a multidisciplinary product team so excellent communication skills, knowledge of the product design process, and a love of collaborative thinking are essential. The ideal candidate will work with product designers, product managers and engineers, as well as sales and customer support teams to develop well-constructed analyses and narratives that’ll aid Rocketrip in delivering actionable results.
The right candidate will lean heavily towards user and qualitative research, but will also display a strong data and quantitative understanding. The User Researcher will ultimately play the voice of the user, to evangelize Traveler goals, pains and needs around Rocketrip.
Responsibilities
Plan and manage end-to-end research processes for qual and quant studies including recruiting participants and establishing panels
Create and present compelling insights-based narratives; translate narratives into actionable strategies and recommendations
Plan and conduct a variety of research methods including user interviews, focus group sessions, observational studies and surveys.
Conduct in-person and remote (both moderated and unmoderated) user tests measuring early product ideas or concepts, IAs and prototypes
Conduct secondary research, including competitive audits
Conduct market research and trend analyses where necessary
Develop personas based on insights learnt about our users – especially the Traveler
Establish and maintain a research database of Traveler insights
Leverage web analytics to develop KPIs and similar measurement frameworks, conduct analytics audits, create ad-hoc reports, and help define custom audience segments
Qualifications
3+ years working with digital products and platforms within a startup, brand, consultancy, or digital agency
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, anthropology, HCI or similar
Ample experience in planning and conducting a wide range of research methods, including the recruitment of end-users and panelists
Strong ability to understand broader business objectives and challenges, aligning recommendations accordingly; comfortable communicating insights, opportunities and recommendations to the wider organization
Ample experience interviewing, running observational studies, focus groups, etc
Experience maintaining a research database (using Reframer, Dovetail, Airtable, similar)
Experience of user testing platforms (e.g. WhatUsersDo, UserTesting, etc)
Experience with usability testing (Optimal Workshop, UsabilityHub, similar)
Experience with web analytics platforms (dashboards, event tracking, goals, funnels)
Comfortable using intermediate to advanced Excel functions and formulas to analyze, clean, and manipulate large data sets
Experience using survey platforms (Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, OnePulse, Google Forms)
Ability to create basic to intermediate data visualizations (graphs, charts, etc)

Can run AB / multivariate tests (Optimizely, Google Optimize)
Can create data dashboards (Google Data Studio, Tableau)
Experience creating and maintain customer experience flows, journeys and maps
Experience with SPSS, SQL, Stata or R
Experience with predictable analytics
