Your Impact:

ELLE DECOR is seeking a versatile, whip-smart Engagement Editor to join our team and work on the digital and social-media platforms of one of the leading voices in American design journalism. This person will work with our Deputy Editor for Digital as she manages the day-to-day content produced for ElleDecor.com, which includes coverage of daily news, in-depth home features, and search-optimized service stories and shoppable roundups and more. The ideal candidate will have top-notch writing skills, a keen eye for strong visual storytelling, and a proven track record of driving engagement and building community around a brand, ideally for a shelter or luxury publication or website.

Responsibilities

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and execute an innovative, cross-platform strategy to grow ELLE DECOR's social media audience of more than 9 million followers, with a specific focus on our Instagram account and, more broadly, developing strategy around short-form, social-first video
  • Write and edit captions for our social media accounts working with our deputy editor and our staff to ensure a lively tone and an engaging mix of visuals pegged to our articles and features, along with breaking news stories and current events
  • Oversee and manage the deployment of ELLE DECOR's digital newsletters, with an eye toward growing our audience
  • Monitor trends in the design community that will help generate new ideas for social media coverage
  • Craft compelling promotional plans around editorial initiatives and launches
  • Closely monitor content performance on all social platforms, reporting relevant insights to the larger team and shaping strategy on a regular basis
  • Work across teams (art, edit, style, e-commerce, and video) to ideate and produce engaging social-first initiatives and franchises
  • Oversee the Apple News strategy and pitches
  • Liaise with sales and branded-content teams for sponsored posts

Qualifications

Who You Are:

  • You'll have 4+ years of experience developing social media strategy, ideally within the design and/or luxury category
  • A proven track record of growing audiences
  • Top-notch editing and writing skills
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for the world of interior design
  • Understanding of traffic and analytics tools, such as Google Analytics, Parse.ly, Google Trends, Looker, CrowdTangle, SailThru, and more
  • Strong visual and photo research skills
  • Experience with Photoshop, Canva, or a similar photo-editing platform is a plus

    The base salary for this role is $64,000-$72,00. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
