CTO & Co-Founder - Building the credit card for our generation

Location: New York, NY

Compensation: Annual salary range $100K-150K, with equity range of 10-20%

Role & Responsibilities

Job brief: 

We are seeking a passionate & accomplished technical leader to join as CTO and third Co-Founder at Airo.  This role will be responsible for leading the company’s technical execution, developing the strategy for using all tech resources, ensuring technology is implemented efficiently/effectively and building the engineering organization from the ground up.  

Strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. We expect you to be well-versed in current financial technology trends and familiar with a variety of financial technology concepts.  Candidate should have knowledge of the credit card and payment ecosystems.

Experience Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a CTO or similar technical leadership role
  • Experience building mobile app technology from the ground up, with proven resourcefulness and flexibility
  • Experience in leadership role managing a team, organizational capabilities including hiring in a fast growth environment 
  • In-depth knowledge of technological trends and resources to influence company strategy 
  • Strong ability to manage budgeting and business-planning

Key Responsibilities:

Build a world-class engineering organization 

  • Develop short & medium-term hiring plan to meet the company’s goals  
  • Define the organizational structure, agile methods of working & responsibilities 
  • Oversee all recruiting activities to hire top talent
  • Build a passionate, collaborative, open-minded and creative engineering culture, leading by example

Lead technical execution 

  • Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with its business goals
  • Setup tech infrastructure from the ground-up 
  • Select technologies, development tools, language and infrastructure to build the product 
  • Build and manage the development roadmap
  • Develop tracking methodology and KPIs to measure/track milestones, effectiveness, budget and bottlenecks 
  • Implement technological processes & best practices 
  • Discover and implement new technologies that yield competitive advantage
  • Ensure technical processes comply with all requirements, laws, and regulations
  • Communicate technology strategy to partners and investors

Manage engineering organization 

  • Manage engineering team on a day to day basis
  • Inspire and motivate the team to deliver results  
  • Lead talent development to train and build the necessary skills and capabilities to drive superior business impact - trainings, mentorship, stretch goals, attendance at conferences 
  • Define team staffing to improve performance and to serve teams needs 
  • Reorganize and effectively manage change as needed
