Developers are the secret to our success. Part advocate and part full-stack developer, Developer Programs Engineers collaborate with developers online and advocate for developer's interests internally at JW Player. The Developer Programs team helps engineers all over the world create unique and engaging video experiences for their audiences.

As a Developer Programs Engineer at JW Player you will be our functional ambassador, trainer, and guide-to-all-things JW for our developer community. You'll be an active and authentic participant in a community by being hands-on. You will write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you will work with JW's Product and Engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs, and testing new features.

The mission of the Developer Programs team is to empower developers to use the JW platform build great solutions for their users. You will be a key partner to our Engineering and Product teams, delivering outstanding content and feedback to internal teams to improve developer experience.

In this role you will:

• Own all aspects of the software development life cycle for developer tools and utilities: planning, architecture, design, implementation, deployment and support
• Design and create reference applications and sample code that closely match our target customer use cases and publicly share the source code on Github, blog posts, and other developer channels
• Create and deliver training content, tutorials, starter kits, best practices, and provide feedback on developer documentation as needed
• Champion relevant JW Player products and services to your target community at conferences, Meetups, coding boot camps, online forums, Twitter, Stack Overflow, Hacker News, and more
• Evangelize new JW Player services, features, and products to the technical stakeholder community
• Build relationships with key influencers, foster a healthy technical community, and collect and prioritize product feedback and technical blockers with Product and Engineering teams
• Use data, experiments, and customer feedback to drive growth in your community

Requirements: 

• 3 years of relevant work experience
• Experience with web services and the interest to dive into Python
• Technical acumen and ability to write clean, understandable code for mobile, connected TV and web applications; must have skills in at least three of these languages/frameworks: JavaScript (strongly preferred), Python (strongly preferred), Objective-C/Swift, Java, PHP, Node.js, Scala, C/C++
• Excellent communication skills - ability to be both a strong technical writer as well as a dynamic public speaker
• A strong sense of ‘developer empathy’ and willingness to want to help developers be successful in their endeavors
• Passion for helping developers connect people and communities through the cloud.
• BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent work experience
