The Wing is seeking a Director of Engineering to help increase access to The Wing community through our digital products. We’re looking for someone experienced with building scalable software and teams in a rapidly growing company. 

The Wing’s mission is the social, economic, professional, and civic advancement of women through community. This Director of Engineering will use their knowledge to help The Wing create, develop, and ship technical products that mirror our company’s mission and values - specifically creating safe digital spaces designed with privacy and data protection in mind. This Director of Engineering will be a critical leader in our Product/Technology department reporting directly to our VP of Product and working as a peer to our current Director of Engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Manage a team of talented engineers enabling the entire team to do their best work
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, product designers and data scientists, as well as key stakeholders and executives
• Advise both The Wing’s technical and non-technical leadership on technical product strategy, both on scaling current products, and the relative value of new products
• Propose viable technical solutions to business needs that align with The Wing’s mission and values 
• Be a technology domain expert (search database technology, security, data science, data analytics, server side technology, and/or DevOps)
• Build out career pathing including hiring, leading skill evaluations, providing reviews, raises and promotions, and establishing roles
• Participate and lead sprint and stand-up process alongside the technology management team 
• Provide knowledge of professional software engineering best practices

QUALIFICATIONS:

• An experienced Director of Engineering who has built and managed a team of engineers
• Track record of launching and scaling high-quality software products from beginning to end
• Knowledge of software including but not limited to: search database technology, security, data science, data analytics, server side technology, and/or DevOps
• Experience with recommendation technology (machine learning) preferred but not required 
• Experience designing technical products that provide privacy and data protection 
• Proven experience growing, training, and running a team of engineers including skill evaluations, providing reviews, raises and promotions
• Strong organizational skills (planning, forecasting, email correspondence) 
• Excellent communicator; able to convey intricate systems and logic to both technical and non-technical partners
