SevenFifty is seeking a team lead to accelerate the progress of our product engineering team. 
What you'll do:

• Hands-on software development
• Lots of code review
• Mentoring and coaching 3-6 less experienced developers
• Ensuring the team delivers software projects effectively
• Helping teammates plan projects, keep work on track, and resolve process bottlenecks
• Making decisions to ensure that our software delivers business value 

For a team lead with the right interests and aptitudes, the role will also include holding regular 1-1s with junior teammates and guiding their professional development. You will have access to mentorship from an experienced leadership team. At our current growth rate, we expect the team to need a manager within 12 months, and if you are interested you will be the first person considered for that role.

The team currently comprises three junior engineers, and we have plans to hire another 2-3 team members by the end of the year, including at least one senior developer. You will play a critical role in interviewing candidates for these positions and and building out the team.

Projects You Might Work On:

• Build out a business intelligence dashboard feature for our customers
• Extend our APIs for deeper integrations with partner companies
• Rework how we surface products in our marketplace search
• Implement pass-through payments feature

• We use a loosely structured, Kanban-like process
• We write automated tests and deploy only the code that passes them
• We do code review on every change
• Developers have full autonomy in executing their work
• We pride ourselves on a welcoming and considerate environment with open communication

You will work closely with other members of our product and engineering organization, including product managers, product designers, and our 6-person data engineering team, and also collaborate with stakeholders from other parts of the company.

What We Use:

• Ruby on Rails (multiple user-facing and internal data processing applications)
• SCSS, JavaScript/CoffeeScript, Backbone, and React for frontend
• React Native mobile app
• PostgreSQL for data storage
• Apache Solr for search/indexing
• Hosting and deployment on Heroku and AWS, with some Ansible scripts for provisioning
• Numerous workflow tools: GitHub, CircleCI, Slack, JIRA, etc.

What You'll Need:

A good candidate will have experience with the bulk of these bullet points but not necessarily all:

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including several years of experience in web development with MVC frameworks and relational databases, and at least some experience with modern Javascript frameworks
• Experience mentoring less experienced software developers
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• A high regard for the “glue”skills (requirements gathering, documentation, process improvements, etc.) of software development
• Comfort in Unix userland environment: grep, pipes, vim/emacs, etc; ideally devops / systems administration skills in a Linux environment
• Interest in entire product design and development process
• Excellent software design and architecture skills, and a dedication to designing and building scalable and maintainable systems 

Bonus Points For:

• Experience with search tooling such as Solr or Elasticsearch (we use Solr)
• Experience in mobile development (mobile browsers, possibly mobile apps)
• Interest in wine/spirits/beer/sake and the restaurant industry
