The Full-Stack developer role is a technical software development role focused on maintenance, feature expansion and critical issue management of the First Due Platform – a SaaS data aggregation, visualization and mobile response solution which helps emergency response agencies respond more effectively to incidents of all kinds. Your focus will be centered around the front and back-end development utilizing PHP, CSS, HTML, and JavaScript in order to build new features, bug fixes, and oversee Pull Requests of specific modules. You will receive significant support internally from our client success and development teams in a collaborative fast-paced start-up environment.

About First Due:

First Due is re-imagining how to make data work for First Responders. When emergency strikes today, our First Responders can't access valuable points of information that can help Firefighters, EMS, Police Officers, and Emergency Managers make better decisions when seconds count. Our technology automates the aggregation of a myriad of disparate data sources for every structure in a community, then provides powerfully intuitive planning, community engagement tools, and emergency response tools. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architecture and solution design of new features alongside the design and development team.
  • Maintain quality and ensure responsiveness of the platform
  • Collaborate with the rest of the development team to design and launch new features.
  • Maintain code integrity and organization.
  • Review and merging GitHub Pull Requests.
  • Extensive back and front-end development utilizing Linux OS and Postgres Database and across several frameworks, languages including PHP, Yii, CSS, HTML5, JavaScript and vue.js.
  • Working with Google API for mapping and routing functionality,
  • Working with the Mobile team to provide back-end and API support for Android and iOS development.
  • Build and maintain the First Due set of APIs and necessary documentation.
  • Learn and Maintain current understanding of the public safety industry including software ecosystem, trends, landscape, and business practices.

Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5+ years of Front and Back-end Web Development
  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Strong relational and object-orientated database knowledge and experience
  • Strong Competency and experience using Linux OS, Postgres Database, PHP and standard web-based front-end languages including HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, vue.js.
  • Understanding or experience using PHP frameworks – preferable Yii PHP Framework
  • Experience working with Google Map API
  • Strong SQL reporting writing and scripting skills and experience
  • Experience working with REST-based API transmitted over https and data sent and received as JSON
  • Experience working with responsive web-based enterprise applications
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-solving skills in order to evaluate complex information coming from a variety of sources and make recommendations and decisions.
  • Strong communication skills in order to work directly with Client Success, Sales and Development and Design Team.
  • Ability to lead, collaborate, and work autonomously in a fast-paced start-up team environment with a positive attitude.
