JW Player is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join its Media Intelligence team to help develop, deploy, and manage the next-generation of AI-enabled Data Science products for our platform. We're looking for a seasoned hands-on software engineering manager to streamline our development and release cycle, measure and optimize our system performance and get the most out of a mature, talented team that ships code frequently at the highest possible caliber.

In this role you will:

• Lead an engineering team in an Agile environment
• Work directly with Product to deliver high quality solutions at scale
• Lead architecture discussions for high availability solutions within AWS and other providers
• Prototype new ideas and explore new solutions to the growing list of problems the platform solves
• Represent the Media Intelligence team for all cross functional initiatives
• Plan technical strategy, and execute against those plans
• Mentor your team members to help them grow their careers
• Be hands-on and contribute to our codebase. Our managers are very technical and are hands on with their teams.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of software development and engineering and 2+ years managing a team of Engineers
• Bachelor's in Science or greater in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field; or experience equivalent
• Experience with deep learning and related libraries such as tensorflow, keras, torch
• Experience with image processing and video processing
• Proven track record of ownership of maintainable, stable and scalable software
• Proven track record of delivering quality products
• Strong understanding of Github or similar source control managements systems
• Strong Unix/Linux skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Contributed to existing open-source projects as well as your own
• Knowledge of video encoding, ad networks, content management platforms, and/or streaming protocols
• High proficiency with SQL and relational databases.
• Knowledge of big data tools like Spark, Hadoop, Hive and Presto.
• Experience with web video (HTML5 and/or Flash)
