We are looking for an engineering manager to join us and own a growing team of engineers helping us take our diner experience to the next level. We are an accomplished group passionate about creating amazing products. As an Engineering Manager you will hire and shape that team, providing mentorship on career growth, designing system architecture, and influencing our product vision.

The Impact You Will Make
- Manage a team of software engineers including career progression and planning.
- Communicate with partners, product owners, other technologists, and users to create software based on an understanding of business and technical priorities.
- Facilitate your team's agile operations by overseeing all sprints and manage the team backlog.
- Participate in future product direction and help build engineering roadmap.
- Build low latency, high throughput RESTful services and optimize services for performance and scale.
- Work with data engineering to improve and identify new opportunities.
- Contribute to the SEO and internal Search and Ratings platforms, software frameworks and SDK's. Build systems that integrate with other real-time data sources and services.
- Design, deliver, and test features in our application while understanding our products from both a technical and business perspective
- Creatively solve complex technical problems for all our Grubhub and Seamless brands
- Contribute to the use of strong software architecture, development best practices and new technologies. We are always improving the process of building software; we'll need your help to do that.
What You Bring to the Table
- Strong computer science fundamentals from a college degree in Computer Science, a related field of study, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years experience building highly-scalable consumer-facing applications and full stack web development.
- 2+ years experience managing a team of Engineers and providing mentorship, career progression, and planning in a formal setting
- Experience working with multiple partners from product, design, and other engineering teams.
- Java, Scala, Python, C# or a similar modern object-oriented language
- Experience with software development best practices and design patterns, SRP, testing pyramids, and CI/CD.
- A history of building software with teams-you enjoy brainstorming solutions and communicating technical ideas and issues with all kinds of partners
- An understanding of best practices for networking, concurrency, and UI development.
- Experience with and an understanding of app performance and debugging techniques
- Experience with building data pipelines using Spark
- Knowledge of search engine algorithms and crawlers and an interest in building SEO expertise.
- Experience using web analytics and SEO tools (Google Webmaster Tools, Google Analytics, Search Metrics, SEM Rush, Screaming Frog)
