MakeSpace is a Manhattan based tech startup that is disrupting the public storage industry. We have been featured in Apartment Therapy, FastCompany, and New York Magazine’s 2014 Best of New York issue. Our company has a fun and lively office conveniently located in Manhattan's Financial District. We are the future of stuff and our well-funded startup is looking to hire an experienced mobile engineer to drive consumer and internal iPhone applications and help us disrupt the $24B storage industry.

MakeSpace is not just building “YACA” (yet another CRUD app). We started from a Python/Django-powered REST API and are now focusing on a mobile-first approach. Most of our technology is served through three enterprise iOS applications.  Mobile engineers work closely with our product designers to deliver a top flight experience to our customers and staff alike.

Our mobile team utilizes state-of-the-art technology including but not limited to: 

• Reactive Cocoa: we believe in and contribute to the development of Functional Reactive Programming and the MVVM Design Pattern 
• CocoaPods: We build our applications as a bundle of modules, and use private and public CocoaPods to manage them 
• Hardware: We manage a fleet of iOS devices, and continuously experiment with any hardware that has the potential to bring efficiency to our fleet

What We're Looking For:

• You aspire to use technology and positively transform the physical world
• You have a history of shipping iOS applications
• You have an ability to write idiomatic Objective-C code
• You have exposure to Swift in production apps
• You have experience with CoreData and Relational databases 
• You have deep understanding of Cocoa design patterns and API design
• You have deep knowledge of iOS Concurrency patterns
• You have good taste and a keen eye for pixel-perfect design
• You have knowledge of iOS performance techniques
• You have enthusiasm for MakeSpace as a service
• You like to laugh and love collaboration
