Senior Engineer at CottageClass
Job Description
CottageClass (Techstars ’17) is seeking a senior engineer with a passion for working in fast-paced environment and make a significant impact on childhood education.
You can design and implement persistence layers, backends, middleware, and frontend clients. You can make careful decisions about architecture, stack and development process so that our product moves as quickly as possible to empower and delight our users. You work well in teams and have the capacity to lead and inspire other developers.
You also have experience building user-facing features, deviating from wireframes when necessary, or when theer's a better or simpler solution. You enjoy keeping the user in mind and tweaking features until they feel just right.
The lead engineer will continue to architect, develop, monitor and maintain our technology: a robust two-sided marketplace to facilitate the CottageClass platform. The engineer will also assist in growth hacking initiatives, data analysis initiatives, recruitment and management.
Some remote work is okay, but you must be able to spend a significant amount of the year working in person with the founders in either Massachusetts (Central MA / Boston area) or New York City.
You'll need to have:
* 2+ years professional full-stack development experience
* Intermediate knowledge of Javascript
* Intermediate knowledge of Go
* Strong software design skills
* Understanding of NoSql databases like MongoDB
* Understanding of Docker and Kuberentes
* Understanding of UX and good user design
* Understanding of payment platforms such as Stripe
* A passion for education
Strong desire to work with a social impact company
We'd love to see:
* 4+ years professional full-stack development experience
* Expert knowledge of Javascript
* Experience leading and managing software teams
* Data analytics skills
* An experienced and creative growth hacker determined to use technology in creative ways to achieve business objectives
