We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead and grow our Product Engineering team at Vise. We hold our product to a high standard valuing correctness, quality, and trustworthiness over speed of shipping to reflect the values of the Financial Advisors we serve. You will partner closely with our product & design, investment strategy, quantitative engineering, and platform engineering teams to meet our ambitious goals. Our team is growing rapidly, and you must have a passion to both recruit and grow engineers and managers.  We embody a collaborative spirit where we promote autonomy and accountability to learn & grow from both our wins and mistakes and prioritizing solving for our customers.

Our office is located in One World Trade in NYC. Our office is open at limited capacity with strict contact tracing and protocols for anyone who chooses to go in. We will continue to be remote-optional until September 30, 2021. We will monitor Covid-19 trends to ensure the safety of our employees.

What you will own

• Managing our current team of 7-10 product engineers 
• Scaling our incredible team through recruiting and developing our engineers to help them continue to master their craft, take ownership, and make impact
• Setting technical direction for your team with thoughtful planning with your team and with cross functional leads 
• Building a long-term strategy that anticipates future needs
• Embodying & showing past experiences that display our values on Tech: Trustworthiness, Inclusivity, and Strive for Excellence 
• Cross-Functional partnership with multiple other teams outside of Tech to drive product and business opportunities to technical execution

What you will bring on Day 1

• 5+ years of engineering management experience with previous experience as a software engineer
• 5+ years of people management experience with a proven record of growing and mentoring engineers and / or managers
• Passion for recruiting talent and managing high performing & motivated engineers
• Good technical sense and experience building API products at some scale
• Experience owning a production product and a love for collaboration across functions to achieve business impact
• Experience driving initiatives across engineering organizations and cross-functional teams while setting clear expectations, timelines, and direction
• A desire to grow in a startup environment where achieving impact through flexibility, grit, and resolve matter more than job titles
