Senior Software Engineer - Platform / Infrastructure
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, plus four years of experience as Software Engineer or VP of Engineering.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
1. Lead overall technical strategy and direction of high-volume, scalable infrastructure that powers Teachable's web application and services, including but not limited to:
(a) Determine which technologies and 3rd party tools should be used to build up our infrastructure, and when to invest in building custom software solutions if 3rd party solutions are not appropriate;
(b) Lead a team of engineers in the design and implementation of the aforementioned infrastructure and custom tools and solutions, including translating higher-level goals into discrete tasks and assigning these tasks;
(c) Establish system-level goals that ensure the reliability and performance of our web application infrastructure to provide a high quality level of service, and implement automatic fallback and mitigation procedures and strategies to address service degradation.
2. Review technical design and code written by other engineers to provide feedback that results in improved quality of work output.
3. Build (design and code) software directly in a hands-on manner.
