The Opportunity:
GIPHY.com receives 200M unique visitors per month, our mobile products have millions of users and our API is integrated into some of the biggest digital platforms in the world. We operate at scale.

We’re looking for a Senior Web Engineer to join our Web Team. You’ll work on one of the most visited websites in the US. Our initiatives this year will focus on personalization, socialization and continuing to move towards a microservices based architecture

Responsibilities:

• Focus on implementing and maintaining a high-volume consumer web application
• Work with an agile product team to implement product features, roll out new functionality across web applications and internal tools, and maintain existing features and platform stability
• Continue our transition to a microservice based architecture

Core Qualifications:

• BS/MS/PhD in CS or related field or equivalent work experience
• Experience with Python and Django web applications
• Experience managing and utilizing a relational database such as MySQL
• Experience writing and maintaining a test suite with tools such as Nose, Selenium and Phantom
• Experience designing, implementing and integrating with well-designed RESTful APIs
• Experience with Amazon Web Services including IAM, RDS, ECS
• Understanding of Agile project management principles
• Start-up experience
• Sense of humor, positive attitude, and a self-directed work ethic

Bonus Qualifications:

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience deploying applications with nginx, uWSGI/Gunicorn, pip, and virtualenv
• Experience with automating systems builds, tests, and deployments
• Experience with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3
• Experience with React
• Experience with optimization, performance tuning, and load balancing in addressing application scalability
