Compass is looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our New York City based Engineering team. In this role, you will be a key member of our Growth team, working with the Engineering, Product, Product Design and the Product Marketing teams to create infrastructure to maximize the exposure of our site content. In this role you will also have the ability to shape how our teams deliver content on the Compass site by helping to shape our core systems for serving web pages. You are an expert in SEO best practices and industry standards, including the ability to analyze data from search engines & Google Analytics. You will participate in designing and implementing a number of backend services to optimize our content for search engine indexing and build new page content types to capture traffic for valuable search terms.
At Compass You Will:
- You will work with the Growth team to build a strategy to help Compass content naturally climb the ranks of SERPs by analyzing data from search engines & Google Analytics
- You will implement SEO best practices and industry standards across all parts of the Compass product
- You have an overall passion for Digital Marketing/SEO, including a desire to keep up with SEO trends
- You will have a free hand to develop in the most appropriate way for any given situation
- You will contribute to the architecture and design of the core services and systems for delivering web pages and applications tailored for organic search and end users alike
- You will be responsible for the quality, reliability and scalability of these systems
- Mentor, motivate, and foster innovation in other team members
What We're Looking For:
- 3-5+ years of experience in writing complete, well-tested, database-driven web applications
- 3+ years of coding experience in Java, Python, or node.js
- Experience with HTML/CSS and familiarity with front end JavaScript frameworks is a plus
- Experience working on service based systems and scaling them to perform
- In-depth understanding and hands on experience with AWS services
- Good understanding of instrumenting and optimizing software to maximize business metrics
- Experience developing layered architectures
- Experience with an iterative development process
- BS in CS or EE or equivalent
