We are looking for an Engineering Manager who is customer focused, passionate about growing a strong and inclusive Engineering team, and ready to make a significant impact. You’ll play an instrumental role leading the team and collaborating with Product, Design, Research, and key stakeholders to understand the needs of our users, define our roadmap and deliver innovative solutions. What This Role Entails

  • Hands-on-keyboard software development. You’ll bring your backend coding skills and leadership to the team to increase the velocity of our delivery.
  • Managing a small but mighty team of passionate software engineers inspiring them to do their best work.
  • Planning and scoping engineering work, delivering on commitments, and actively working with partners and stakeholders.
  • Leading technical architecture discussions and driving technical decisions making the appropriate trade-offs based on quality, scalability, performance, and cost aligned with the team’s tech strategy.
  • Collaborating with Design, Research, and Product to conceptualize, prioritize, and build new features.
  • Mentoring other engineers, reviewing their code, and delivering feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Improving our engineering standards, tooling, processes, and ways of working as we grow.
  • Actively owning features while building a stable infrastructure that is easily scalable.
  • Working in our modern stack of programming languages like Node, Javascript, Typescript, and GraphQL. We utilize NoSQL databases, a serverless infrastructure, and a variety of AWS tools and services.

What We’re Looking For

It would be nice if you have →

  • 3+ years as an Engineering Manager or managing a team of software engineers.
  • 6+ years of recent hands-on backend software engineering experience.
  • Experience working as part of agile product team where design, research, and product collaborated to ship user-facing web applications.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex ideas to various audiences.
  • Experience with AWS components such as Lambda, Amplify, S3, DynamoDB, Cognito
  • Track record of developing high-quality software in an automated build and deployment environment
  • Are comfortable with ambiguity and can operate in a fast-changing startup environment.
  • Strong object-oriented, functional design and understanding of common design patterns (scalable data-intensive applications)

It would be an added bonus if you have →

  • BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics).
  • A passion for building a product that can change the lives of millions of users.
  • Experience working with both frontend and backend technologies
  • Deep knowledge of AWS and can provision infrastructure components on AWS and document these processes
  • Experience building user-facing software that is both B2B and B2C.
