The Role:

BuzzFeed is looking for a Director of Pricing, Yield and Planning to manage our inventory and yield across our O&O. You will oversee the monetization of our video ad inventory across YouTube, our owned and operated and other distributed properties. This is truly a “hands-on” role as well as an opportunity to be an expert in this area and create BuzzFeed’s strategy. This director will work cross-functionally with internal teams and external clients/agencies to focus on fully monetizing BuzzFeed.

You will:

  • Develop optimization plans across O&O and programmatic platforms to maximize revenue.
  • Develop programs to better utilize inventory and improve coordination of scarcity and supply realities.
  • Collaborate with Pricing, Ad Operations and Product teams to develop rate cards for new media products, display and programmatic.
  • Reporting:
    • Create weekly reporting that includes top-level views of inventory utilization, sell through, revenue pacing, and revenue at risk.
    • Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual business scorecards and future expectations, using revenue, delivery, and sell-through data.
    • Manage and communicate business revenue KPIs across BuzzFeed verticals, such as Revenue Per User and Impressions to Page View RatioQualifications
    • Analyze and distribute executive level reporting; highlight key benchmarks, closely monitor market trends and progress against daily revenue targets.
  • Evaluate programmatic partner performance and detail recommendations for future growth.
  • Vet new ad tech opportunities and quantify revenue potential, risks (and how to overcome them). Work with the Product team to develop prioritized roadmaps for new ad tech opportunities.
  • Serve as the operational gatekeeper of the programmatic ad stack, with an understanding of inventory structure, platform features, and monetization efficiency.
  • Build, monitor, and maintain inventory forecasting for audience segments by platforms and subscription types
  • Manage and oversee pricing, media planning and yield functions (team of approx 10)

You have:

  • 5+ years of experience in yield management for an Ad Agency, Publisher, or Ad Tech Vendor.
  • Experience with DFP and Operative.
  • Experience with Programmatic advertising
  • Deep knowledge and/or direct experience with a digital media pricing for a variety of products
  • Knowledge and experience designing digital media plans
  • Ability to synthesize large datasets, create model and develop meaningful insights.
  • Experience creating and defining new processes.
  • Natural ability to tell a compelling story using data-driven insights as a foundation.
