ClassPass is looking for a highly motivated accountant that will be a key addition to the Finance team. In this role, you will work closely with all members of the Finance Team to ensure that all reporting, operational processes, and ad hoc projects are completed efficiently and in accordance with US GAAP. You will heavily participate in the month-end close process and you will work closely will report directly to the Accounting Manager. As a member of the Finance Team you will communicate cross-functionally with all departments of the company and you must possess the initiative to proactively interface with and learn the business. To succeed in this role, you’ll need a comprehensive understanding of GAAP accounting, sound business judgement, and the ability to always stay one step ahead, anticipating the risks and challenges we may face as we continue to grow our footprint.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support financial close processes by monitoring internal trial balances, facilitating the account reconciliation process, and preparing reporting deliverables for the Finance Team
• Ensure proper business controls are in place and assist in the implementation of new controls and procedures when necessary
• Active participation cross-functionally in identifying process improvements in order to optimize efficiencies, improve analyses and provide department and management with effective reports
• Research and provide guidance on accounting topics as needed
• Record daily cash activity and manage monthly cash reconciliations for all domestic and international bank accounts
• Process all domestic and international invoices for payment with accurate expense type coding
• Record fixed asset acquisitions and depositions and the associated depreciation
• Maintain prepaid expense schedules and record associated amortization
• Collaborate and assist the finance team during monthly, quarterly and annual close
• Prepare various schedules and supporting documentation for the external auditors during the annual audit
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and generally accepted accounting principles
• Assist in the development of company policies and monitor adherence to existing Company policies and procedures
• Assist the Finance team with other ad-hoc projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or similar
• Approximately 2 years of experience (public accounting or industry experience is a plus)
• CPA preferred (or active CPA candidate either testing or planning to test)
• Have the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced, highly adaptive environment
• Detail oriented, well organized, and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects at once
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate Excel skills
