Internal Controls Senior
The Squarespace Finance team is seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial Internal Controls Senior to join our growing team! You will partner with Accounting, Engineering, Legal, HR and Senior Leadership to build and execute an internal controls strategy for Squarespace’s fast-paced, high growth business.
The Internal Controls Senior will be a proactive member of the finance team with a strong background and track record of building, assessing and improving control environments. You should be comfortable in driving outcomes and managing processes with cross functional teams as well as providing solutions to complex issues.
This role reports into the Internal Controls Lead in New York.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and maintain an effective internal control environment over financial reporting
- Ensure risk assessment and control frameworks are in place, and running effectively and efficiently
- Create, review and/or maintain internal control narratives, flowcharts and/or risk matrices
- Identify key business and technology risks and mitigation strategies
- Design and review control testing to address audit assertions; interpret the significance of control deficiencies, draw appropriate conclusions from results, and promote recommendations
- Evaluate control deficiencies and track remediation to completion
- Effectively communicate with Senior Management results of controls assessment and testing and provide creative solutions for mitigation
- Project manage complex changes in business events and system implementations to ensure process and IT control areas are being considered
QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of leadership experience in internal controls, internal and/or external audit
- Experience in a technology company with continuous deployment a big plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- CIA, CISA and/or CPA a must
- Advanced knowledge of the COSO 2013 and COBIT frameworks
- Working knowledge of IT infrastructure and security
- Experience in creative solutioning in a dynamic, fast-paced and multi-project environment
- Excellent organizational, prioritization and process improvement skills
- Proven ability as a creative business partner to key leaders in supporting rapid growth
- Self-starter who demonstrates initiative and displays a high energy level
- Flexible and influencing
- Strong project management and communication skills
