Whip Media Group is looking to bring on a Staff Accountant to join the Accounting and Finance team. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations and supporting the continued growth of the organization. 

We’re a B2B, SaaS platform that powers some of the largest entertainment clients in the world - and in this role you’ll be part of that growth trajectory and work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that the operational aspects of the business are on target. You’ll execute on a variety of financial procedures, including general journal entries, reconciliations, financial statement analysis, the updating and enhancing of month-end close working papers and drafting and tie out of annual financial reporting. 

Based in NYC (as soon as our offices reopen when things are safe), this role reports into the VP of Finance and the ideal candidate will have an entrepreneurial spirit, ambition and will act collaboratively working closely with the rest of the team. 


Responsibilities:

  • Update and assist accounting receivable, issue invoices and ensure timely collection of customer payments.
  • Ensure all vendors are paid per contractual terms and payment issues are responded to in a timely manner via third party services like Bill.com 
  • Support the team with month end procedures and post JEs and other business transactions.
  • Perform variance to budget analysis.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
  • Perform ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Assist in financial reporting and finalizing month end financial statements.
  • Support the team to perform year-end and compliance audits.
  • Propose improvements on area of responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in Accounting or Finance related roles.
  • Technology and SaaS industry experience, strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities required.
  • Experience with Quickbooks, Concur, Bill.com strongly preferred.
  • Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while continuing to meet goals and deadlines for ongoing tasks, with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to continuously improve reporting processes and tools and manage projects to promote system improvements and efficiencies.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work cross functionally across all organizational levels and departments.
  • Public accounting experience, a plus.
