Senior Payroll Administrator

We have an opportunity for a self-driven, high energy Senior Payroll Administrator that possesses a can-do attitude. This individual will report to the Head of Payroll and Benefits and will have ownership in: computing, withholding and deductions associated with net earnings, payroll reconciliation of tax filing and employee earnings. To ensure success, the ideal candidate will provide a demonstrated expertise with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the payroll function.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare/process daily and post-payroll activities related to the processing of non-union semimonthly and union weekly payrolls.
- Maintains payroll information and systems; manages the collection and enters the calculations and payroll changes.
- Updates payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, addresses & direct deposits.
- Works closely with the Human Resources Department to ensure the accurate and timely processing of new hires, transfers, salary changes, leaves of absences, bonuses, promotions and terminations.
- Regularly reviews and analyzes current payroll systems and procedures; recommends new policies and procedures that align with best-practice operations.
- Manages payroll project initiatives to better streamline the payroll process.
- Ensures that systems are correctly configured and that employees are paid correctly.
- Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages; prepares entries to record payroll in the general ledger; reports on and analyzes payroll activities (e.g., overtime reports, deduction variances, change reports, user access, etc.); assists in developing and analyzing payroll tax filing reports.
- Regular reconciliation of payroll regarding employee deductions against various vendor invoices and employee elections.
- Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
- Maintains and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
- Responsible for year-end processing including reconciliation, processing/distributing W-2's, processing special payments/adjustments.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related area from a four-year college or university
- Semi-monthly & weekly payroll multi-state payroll processing experience required
- ADP WorkForce Now Payroll System or other third party administrator experience
- Payroll General Ledger experience
- 5+ years of demonstrated payroll practice and experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Extensive experience with ADP WorkForce Now system.
- Excellent communication skills and keen attention to details.
